Alyson Shaw blossomed into one of the best shortstops in the country during her stellar career from 2016-19, proving to be a threat at the plate, on the base paths and in the field en route to second team NFCA All-American honors as a sophomore. She started 43 games that year, leading the Ohio Athletic Conference in batting average (.441), hits (63), and runs (37) and total bases (88). In addition, she placed top-three in doubles (15), slugging percentage (.615) and on-base percentage (.457).

 

Shaw recorded 19 multi-hit outings in the spring of 2017, striking out just six times in 143 at-bats and hitting safely in 34 games from the leadoff spot.

 

An early childhood education major, Shaw then made it a double-decker in the springs of 2018 and 2019 by earning first team CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. Mainitaining a perfect 4.00 grade-point average in early childhood education, she was one of 34 across Division III to make the list and one of just 11 student-athletes on the top squad both times.

 

The Cardinals posted a combined 120-42-2 record during Shaw's career to make her part of the winngest class in program history. The Cards captured three OAC regular-season championships, two OAC Tournament titles and making the NCAA Tournament in 2017 and 2019 as she broke multiple school records. Shaw graduated as Otterbein's all-time leader in games played (163) and hits (220). She also finished second in at-bats (538), third in runs scored (141), third in doubles (37), fourth in triples (10), fourth in total bases (298) and sixth with a career .406 batting average.
