Snyder, Tim

BACK

Tim Snyder arrived to Otterbein with a long ways to go as a freshman, appearing in just five games that first season while backing up All-American center fielder Tyler Kent.

Snyder’s recipe for success was simple, as hard work led to consistent improvement and a natural rise within the talented program. He earned the nod in CF as a sophomore and kept the spot for three years, ultimately starting 128 games and playing in 137 overall.

He immediately became a defensive standout and committed just three errors in three years, stringing together a .990 career fielding percentage and becoming a two-time nominee for the ABCA Rawlings Gold Glove award.

Snyder earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) honors as a junior and senior while batting over .300 in each of his three full years in the lineup. He compiled career totals of 138 hits, 83 runs scored, 82 RBI and 18 of 23 on stolen-base attempts. Snyder led the team offensively with 39 RBI as a senior.

His Cardinal teams went a combined 119-59-1 (.668) during the four-year span, matching the squad from 2005-08 as the co-winningest class in program history in terms of percentage. Snyder received four rings as a result, as Otterbein won two OAC regular-season titles and two OAC Tournament titles during the memorable run.

Also a 3x Academic All-OAC honoree, Snyder capped off his career by earning third team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors after graduating with a 3.90 GPA in accounting. He was one of just 33 players across NCAA Division III to make the list, and extended the baseball program’s record streak to six-straight years with at least one national selection.
