Kissel, Dani

BACK

Cincinnati native Dani Kissel hit the floor from her freshman year on, instantly becoming an All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) selection and ultimately culminating with WBCA All-American honors.

The multi-dimensional guard/wing started 101 games throughout her career, surpassing 1,000 points as a junior and setting the stage for what ended up being a stellar senior campaign in 2018-19.

Kissel led the OAC and ranked top-35 nationally at 19.2 points per game that winter, setting a new Otterbein single-game record with 44 points against cross-town rival Capital which also fell one shy of tying a league record. She also led the league in minutes played (34.8/game) and scored double figures in every outing but two.

Kissel concluded her career second all-time in school history for total points (1,532), including a whopping 518 as a senior to fall just 27 shy of the program's single-season record. Nevertheless, she still became just the fifth OAC player in a decade span to surpass the 1,500-point milestone.

Her career was slightly extended following an OAC Tournament semifinal game, as Kissel was chosen to participate in the Beyond Sports/WBCA All-Star Game in Salem, Va. She was one of 20 players nationally to suit up in the exhibition contest, played at the NCAA Division III Final Four site.

An engineering major, Kissel graduated as one of just three women’s basketball All-Americans at Otterbein, joining Diana Noles (Esterkamp) and Jennifer Harrison.
