Bill Thompson was Otterbein’s first track All-American, tossing the javelin 217-7 to place fourth overall in the 1964 NCAA DIII meet at Fresno State. That mark still stands as the school record almost 50 years later. The javelin was not on official event in the Ohio Athletic Conference at that time, but Bill was also outstanding in the shot put.
