Copley, Ohio native Maddie Flasco was part of the three most successful years in Otterbein softball history from 2016-18 and was even better in the classroom, graduating as just the third Cardinal student-athlete to receive CoSIDA Academic All-American honors three times. She was third team as a sophomore, second team as a junior and then culminated as one of just 11 players on the first team as a senior. Flasco graduated with a near-perfect 3.97 cumulative GPA in biology.

 

A 3x All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer, Flasco was in the starting lineup every game after arriving as a freshman and departed sharing the program record of 157 games played. Ranking second all-time at 522 at-bats, she hit over .300 all four years to finishing with a career .345 batting average, 180 hits, 109 runs scored, 90 RBI, 26 doubles and 207 total bases.

 

The Cardinals posted a combined record of 110-45-2 during Flasco's four seasons, capturing three-straight OAC regular-season championships, the 2017 OAC Tournament title, a bid to the NCAA Championships and multiple weeks inside the top-25 national rankings.

 

Flasco went on to pursue a PhD in plant pathalogy from Cornell University in New York.
