Feltner, Justin

BACK

Catcher Justin Feltner took a patient and very admirable path to recognized success at Otterbein, playing in just 23 combined games (three starts) over his first three years while serving as a backup to a few All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) players.

“Felt” continued handling his business and eventually received a full-time opportunity as a senior, starting 43 games behind the plate and emerging into a second team All-OAC selection. Serving as team captain, he finished with a .312 batting average, nine doubles, 18 RBI, 31 runs scored and a .992 fielding percentage while guiding the team to a second OAC regular-season title in three years.

Also a member of the OAC All-Tournament Team in the postseason, Feltner maintained a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA in the classroom and was ultimately voted second team CoSIDA Academic All-America as one of just 34 student-athletes across Division III to warrant the honor. It marked a school-record five-straight years that someone from the Otterbein baseball program made the list.

Feltner's teams held a combined 116-56 record over the four years, winning three different OAC championships (two regular season, one tournament) and also making the NCAA field twice. The Kettering, Ohio product was even more well-rounded off the diamond as a 3x Academic All-OAC selection, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, the Student Director of Recreation Sports/Intramurals and a leader within the program's community service initiatives.
