McElwain, Bailey

Bailey McElwain was part of the most decorated class in Otterbein softball history, helping the Cardinals post a combined record of 110-45-2 and capture three-straight Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular-season championships in the process.

The 2018 graduate, who majored in nursing, spent time as both a catcher and outfielder as the program continued to make history under the guidance of she and her classmates. Otterbein made its first-ever NCAA appearance in 2017 and spent multiple weeks in the national poll throughout her career.

McElwain (North Georgetown/West Branch) saved her best season for last, earning OAC Player of the Year honors and going on to grab a third team NFCA All-American spot behind the plate. One of just 45 student-athletes across the nation to make the list, McElwain led the conference with a .764 slugging percentage and ranked top-five in batting average (.429), hits (60), doubles (16) and home runs (9).

A 3x all-league and 2x all-region selection, McElwain had 19 multi-hit games as a senior and finished as the program's all-time leader with 215 base knocks. She also shares Otterbein career records in doubles (53) and games played (157), while sitting second with 156 runs scored.
