Shivley, Bella
Midfielder Bella Shivley is the most decorated player in Otterbein Women's Soccer history. The local product from New Albany (St. Francis DeSales HS) turned in a memorable four-year stretch from 2017-20 that saw ample success from both an individual/team standpoint...
The Cardinals posted a combined 56-11-5 record during her time with the program, winning two Ohio Athletic Conference championships and coming up just short of a third in double overtime on the road. The sure-footed star was a 3x OAC Midfielder of the Year, 2x United Soccer Coaches All-American and shattered the Cardinal record books…
Despite essentially playing just three full years of sample size due to injury and the pandemic, Shivley departed as Otterbein's all-time leader in points (142), goals (53), assists (36) and game-winners (18). She posted the most career points of any OAC women's soccer player since the turn of the century.
Among the many highlights, Shivley netted multiple game-winning goals to beat cross-town rival Capital and helped lead Otterbein into the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships. The Cards hosted a four-team regional at Memorial Stadium and made the Round of 32, before a narrow exit.
In addition to her play on the field, Shivley excelled simultaneously as a nursing major with a stellar 3.92 GPA. Those efforts made her a 2x CoSIDA Academic All-America selection and, as a senior, she brought home AAA National Player of the Year honors. She was just the third student-athlete in Otterbein history to receive the distinction.
Shivley was named Otterbein's 2021 OAC Clyde Lamb recipient, presented annually to the top male and female seniors at each school across the league. Upon graduation, she was chosen to represent the league in the NCAA Woman of the Year process... ultimately becoming one of 152 quarterfinalists (from all divisions) nationwide.
