Rennette, Mike
Mike Rennette delivered a breakout junior campaign despite having a year off between competition through a pandemic. The Avon native was ultimately a dual qualifier at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, lacing up in both the 110 and 400 hurdles.
Rennette traveled to Greensboro, N.C. seeded outside of the top 10 in both events, but made admirable pushes toward the podium (top eight) in each. He narrowly missed the cutoff to begin the meet in the 400 section, finishing ninth in the field of 17 with a new personal-record 53.22 seconds. That time was .02 away from advancing into the final and earning All-American status.
However, Rennette bounced back nicely in the 110’s by cruising through prelims with a blazing PR of 14.31 seconds. He turned around in Saturday’s final with another strong effort, this time from the inside lane, en route to a 14.40 and taking fourth in the country for an All-American trophy.
