Isaac, Will
Grove City native Will Isaac turned in a standout junior season, helping Otterbein reach as high as No. 6 in the national rankings after being picked No. 6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll.
Isaac ultimately led the OAC in scoring at 33 points, coming on a balanced line of 11 goals and 11 assists. He scored twice in a 2-2 draw with nationally-ranked Ohio Wesleyan, and had a six-point outburst as the Cards came from behind to win (4-2) at Mount Union in the league opener.
Otterbein eventually shared the OAC regular-season crown with John Carroll before dropping a 1-0 overtime match against the Blue Streaks in the OAC Tournament Final. Nevertheless, the Cards earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championships and hosted a four-team regional at Memorial Stadium..
Otterbein made the Round of 32, dominating Trine (with Isaac converting a PK) before a loss in the snow to national power Chicago... which went on to make the Final Four. Isaac was voted first team All-OAC, first team All-Great Lakes Region and second team All-America by the United Soccer Coaches. The Cardinals finished that fall 15-2-4 as a team.
Isaac went on to become the 2022 OAC Forward of the Year (as a true senior) and then help Otterbein win another OAC regular-season title in 2023, when he decided to return for a fifth year of eligibility stemming from the COVID pandemic. The Cards made the NCAA's once again, with Isaac graduating as the program's new all-time leader in assists.
When it was all said and done, he totaled 113 points (42 goals, 29 assists) and rested as 4x All-OAC, 3x All-Region and 3x All-Ohio. As good as he was on the pitch, Isaac was just as productive in the classroom by assembling a 3.47 cumulative GPA and earning his bachelor’s degree in allied health. He stayed on afterwards as a graduate assistant coach.
