Jones, Ron

A 1961 graduate, Ron lettered in football in each of his four seasons with the Cardinals. He held the record for most touchdown receptions in a season and in a career until 1998. His senior year he received All-OAC and All-Ohio honors, as well as the Norris-Elliot Award. He also lettered in baseball for two years, and participated in part of two basketball seasons. Ron began his teaching career at Piketon High School and served as the head football, basketball, baseball, and track coach until 1969. He moved back to Westerville in 1969, and was a middle school counselor before taking the athletic director position at Westerville High School in 1973 where he stayed until he retired in 1993. Ron was inducted into the Central District Athletic Director Hall of Fame and the Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Hall of Fame in 1990. He also received the “O” Club Outstanding Service Award in 1981. He retired from U.S. Airways in August 2010 after more than 16 years of service.
