Throughout the years, together with her husband Maurice (Mac) McVay, Dorothy was a source of positive influence through her friendship, fellowship, concern and generosity to the city of Westerville and Otterbein College. Each one of these characteristics was evident when she donated the money to give the basketball teams a new floor and for the track team a renovated track, and for countless athletes a ride to their away games in a 32-passenger motor coach she donated to the “O” Club. These gifts, and her participation in such Otterbein organizations as the Otterbein College President’s Club and the “O” Club Foundation, is how she left her everlasting mark on Otterbein athletics. Over the course of her life, Dorothy lent a helping hand to the young and old, but she always made sure that Otterbein had the resources to aid student recruitment and further the interests of the athletic program and physical education.
