Prior to his education at Otterbein, Frank served two years in the Army during World War II under General Patton. At Otterbein, Frank helped to form the first golf team on which he played for four years. He also played basketball for three years. Following his graduation from Otterbein, Frank taught social studies and coached basketball at Bloomingburg High School until 1954. He went on to coach at Mount Gilead High School, Columbus West Junior High School and Columbus North High School. In 1958, Frank was appointed assistant coach under Fred Taylor and freshman coach at The Ohio State University. He remained at OSU until 1965 when he became the head basketball coach at Louisiana State University. After one year, he assumed the head basketball coaching position at Kent State University, which he held until 1974. Also at Kent State, Frank served as head golf coach from 1974 through 1978. Frank ended his 35-year coaching career in 1986 after a six-year stint at Watterson High School. Frank earned his master’s degree in physical education from The Ohio State University in 1962 and was inducted into the Ohio Veterans’ Hall of Fame in November 2009.
