Hiscox, Brian
The record books speak for themselves regarding Brian Hiscox’s illustrious career at Otterbein. A Burton, Ohio native, Hiscox cemented his legacy by becoming the first baseball player in school history to earn All-America honors for both athletics and academics in the same season.
During his junior season in 2009, Hiscox, who played third base that year, was named to the Rawlings NCAA Division III All-America third team as well as to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America first team. Hiscox finished that season with a .378 batting average and ranked third nationally in home runs (18), 17th in slugging percentage (.818), and 28th in total bases (121), while setting an NCAA Division III record and tying the all-divisions record by hitting a home run in eight-consecutive games.
Hiscox moved back to his original position at first base for his senior season, which began with a selection to the D3baseball.com preseason All-American squad. He was again rewarded for his academic prowess at seasons end, being named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America second team.
He finished his career second all-time in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) with 44 home runs, and set the Otterbein career and single-season (18) record in the category. As a four-year letterman, he finished his career a three-time All-OAC pick and earned two selections to the All-Mideast Region team. Before graduating, Hiscox received the OAC Clyde Lamb Award, presented annually to the top senior male and female student-athlete at each of the ten schools in the conference.
