Rod Sink, a third baseman from Van Wert, Ohio, excelled on the field and in the classroom where he majored in chemistry and mathematics. A four-year starter, Sink helped lead Otterbein to its first-ever Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) championship his sophomore season as the Cardinals swept Wittenberg, 3-2, and Marietta twice by scores of 14-6 and 4-2. Sink was named to the All-Tournament team.

Sink batted .364, second best on the team, scored 25 runs, and knocked in another 27 runs his senior season in 1991. He earned first team Academic All-America honors, having earned second team honors as a junior. Sink was a first team Academic All-OAC selection three times (1989-91). In addition, Sink earned All-OAC honors three times, landing on the second team twice (1989 and 1990).

The third baseman ranks high on many Otterbein career lists, including fourth for at-bats (553), fifth for runs scored (123), seventh for hits (186), ninth for total bases (251), and sixth for most games (161).
