Andy Manhle

A local product from St. Francis DeSales High School, Andy Mahle made his mark for Otterbein as one of the top punters in all of Division III.

Mahle was a three-year letterman and two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) performer, earning first-team honors in 1992 and second-team honors in 1993 as a senior. His punting average led the conference every season he was in Westerville, improving from 38.4 as a sophomore to 40.1 as a junior, and ultimately elevating to 41.1 during his final season. His efforts were good enough to garner a pair of All-American awards as Mahle received honorable mention status from Football Gazette in both 1992 and 1993. He was also a preseason All-American pick to open the 1993 campaign.

Mahle’s career numbers stack up to 169 punts for 6,738 yards, coming in at an average of 39.9 yards per attempt. He holds Otterbein single-game records for most punts (13) and most yards (463).

Andy blasted a new career-long punt of 69 yards against Hiram College in 1992, only to match the mark again in 1993. In addition to punting, Andy made two field goals and 12-of-14 extra-point attempts at the placekicker spot throughout his impressive career.
