Ron holds the Otterbein men’s basketball scoring record of 2,549 points, a record made prior to the introduction of the 3-point line. The shooting guard earned All-American honors three times and All-OAC honors four times as a four-year starter from 1979-83. As a sophomore, Ron helped lead Otterbein to a share of the OAC title and into the Final Four of the NCAA Division III Tournament in 1980-81. During the 1982-83 season, he scored a school record 50 points against Denison. Ron, who has one daughter and one grandson, lives in Apple Valley and serves as a substitute teacher of physical education and health, and operates his own real estate business.
