Cooperrider, Matt
Matt Cooperrider has been a fixture within the men’s golf program since arriving as a freshman in 2002. Cooperrider earned four varsity letters at Otterbein as a player, becoming part of four Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) championship teams and earning All-OAC honors three different times.
Cooperrider turned in finishes of seventh, fourth, and third at the OAC Championships, with his best score coming at the 2005 event when he shot back-to-back 74’s to finish at four-over. He also played in two NCAA Division III tournaments, earning All-American honors twice.
Matt continued his passion for Otterbein men’s golf by coming on as assistant coach for the 2008 and 2009 seasons. He coached the 2009 team at the NCAA Championships, guiding five players who were making their first appearance at nationals to a 13th-place finish.
“Coach Coop” was hired as head coach in 2010 and has since guided the program to a pair of OAC Championships and NCAA appearances in three seasons. He also has two OAC Coach of the Year awards in his trophy case.
Cooperrider resides in Gahanna and works as an account manager at West-Camp Press, Inc. in Westerville
