Stancil, Chad

A true pioneer for the Otterbein men’s golf program, Chad Stancil helped get the Cardinal success started in the early 1990’s.

Stancil finished tied for ninth at the 1991 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championships, and carried the early success into the 1992 campaign. That season, he received OAC medalist honors by defeating John Carroll’s Joe Bettendorf in a playoff at Apple Valley Golf Course. Stancil qualified for nationals as an individual, finishing 56th out of 120 players and ultimately earning an All-American selection.

His 1993 Hall of Fame team built the path for all future squads, becoming the first team in school history to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Stancil earned his third All-OAC award by finishing fourth at the conference event that season, and later came in tied for 34th at nationals as Otterbein secured an eighthplace finish.
