Winar, Dan

Dan Winar was a two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) performer during the 1997 and 1998 seasons, which included second and fourth-place finishes for Otterbein at the NCAA’s.

Winar finished ninth at the 1997 OAC Championships, but the Cardinals suffered a tough two-stroke loss to John Carroll. Otterbein redeemed itself shortly after, hosting the NCAA Championships and finishing third as a team at Medallion Country Club. Winar and teammate Matt Ehlinger helped lead the charge, with Winar coming in seventh overall to receive second-team All-American honors.

Otterbein got back on track at the ’98 OAC Championships, defeating John Carroll by 19 strokes to secure the first of nine-straight conference titles. Winar was in eighth alone that year, shooting 76-79 and finishing just one stroke out of the top five.

The Cardinals once again represented themselves well at 1998 nationals, tallying the program’s best-ever result with a runner-up finish.
