Manzo, Angelo
Forward Angelo Manzo is the all-time leading scorer for the Otterbein men’s soccer program, having totaled 143 points during his four-year career from 2000-03. Manzo was named All-Ohio Athletic Conference every season and garnered the league’s Forward of the Year award in 2002.
Angelo’s teams went a combined 62-19-3 throughout his stay in Westerville, winning four conference titles and making four appearances in the NCAA Tournament. The 2002 run would be the program’s best, advancing all the way to the national championship match before a 1-0 loss to Messiah. Angelo led the team and the OAC in scoring that season with 19 goals and seven assists, and also led the conference in points during the 2001 and 2003 campaigns.
A tricky forward with great feet, Manzo had the ability to see plays develop earlier than most players and always darted into the right spot at the right moment. It was not uncommon to see him strategically find the back of the net after lengthy, scoreless stretches throughout a match.
Angelo also stayed on top of his game in the classroom, maintaining a stellar grade-point average in becoming a two-time first-team Academic All-America pick.
